Sprint to start selling 5G version of LG V50 on May 31
Sprint is launching its first 5G devices this month. On Thursday, the company announced the launch of LG's V50 ThinQ 5G smartphone, as well as HTC's 5G Hub, with pre-orders starting on Friday, May 17. Launched during the Mobile World Congress in February, the LG V50 ThinQ 5G is LG's first 5G smartphone, offering "20 times" the speeds of 4G according to LG. It's a 6.4-inch phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chip, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a 4,000mAh battery and a triple rear camera (with 12/12/16-megapixel sensors), as well as a dual, 8/5-megapixel selfie camera. On Sprint, the LG V50 ThinQ 5G will cost $24 per month with a $0 down payment with a Sprint Flex 18-month lease. The HTC 5G hub is a wireless hub that lets you connect various devices via Wi-Fi and enjoy 5G network speeds, which should be good enough for 4K streaming, and "virtually" buffer-free gaming, Sprint claims. The HTC 5G Hub costs $12.50 per month for 24 months, and can be activated with a 100GB data plan for $60/month, after which data speeds are reduced. Both devices will be available on May 31, but initially only in the four markets where Sprint will launch its 5G network first: Atlanta, Dallas, Houston and Kansas City. It should arrive to Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Phoenix and Washington, D.C. in the next few weeks.
